How much of my gift will go to the institution I wish to support?
OC TEAM takes 10% from each designated gift to cover its operating expenses. Donors frequently ask for a proportion of their gift to go towards the operations of OC TEAM, and in such cases 100% of the remaider goes to the institution. Other donors are happy for OC TEAM to allocate their gift to where it may be most needed, including OC TEAM's own expenses.
Can I give to more than one institution?
Yes. We have many donors that divide their gifts to two or more of our partner institutions.
Can I specify how the money should be spent?
Generally yes. Details of any special projects requiring specific funding will be published in our seasonal newsletter, InTrust. Donors are welcome, however, to make suggestions other than these such as 'for the library', or 'for faculty training'.
I cannot afford to fully support a student. Can I still help?
Absolutely! Many of our supporters give part sponsorship. In such cases we simply join together part-sponsors' gifts to make up a support package. (See 'How do I Support?')
What proportion of a student's fees does OC TEAM cover?
It is important that the student contributes towards his or her fees as this demonstrates a commitment by the student. OC TEAM would not normally give more than 75% of the fee required.
Will I hear from 'my' student?
We encourage students to write to us regarding their progress and we will normally pass this on to the supporter. Correspondence is normally channelled through the institution's office. Currently we can only pass on hard copy to a sole sponsor or a group (such as a church), as postage costs are high. We may pass on information in the future to part sponsors by e-mail, however.
Can I take advantage of the UK Gift Aid scheme?
Absolutely! providing you are paying enough tax to the UK Treasury to cover any claim through the scheme, OC Team can benefit by a return equivalent to 28% on your gift.
